Monier-Williams traces the etymological roots of Asura (असुर) to Asu (असु), which means life of the spiritual world or departed spirits.[6] In the oldest verses of the Samhita layer of Vedic texts, the Asuras are any spiritual, divine beings including those with good or bad intentions, and constructive or destructive inclinations or nature.[6] In later verses of the Samhita layer of Vedic texts, Monier Williams states the Asuras are "evil spirits, demons and opponents of the gods". The 5th century Buddhist philosopher, Buddhaghosa explains that their name derives from the myth of their defeat at the hands of the god Śakra. According to the story, the asura were dispossessed of their state in Trāyastriṃśa because they became drunk and were thrown down Mount Sumeru. After this incident, they vowed never to drink sura again. In some Buddhist literature, they are sometimes referred to as pūrvadeva (Pāli: pubbadeva), meaning "ancient gods."[7]
According to the Bhagavad Gita (16.6-16.7), all beings in the universe have both the divine qualities (daivi sampad) and the demonic qualities (asuri sampad) within each.[14][15] The sixteenth chapter of the Bhagavad Gita states that pure god-like saints are rare and pure demon-like evil are rare among human beings, and the bulk of humanity is multi-charactered with a few or many faults.[14] According to Jeaneane Fowler, the Gita states that desires, aversions, greed, needs, emotions in various forms "are facets of ordinary lives", and it is only when they turn to lust, hate, cravings, arrogance, conceit, anger, harshness, hypocrisy, cruelty and such negativity- and destruction-inclined that natural human inclinations metamorphose into something demonic (Asura).[14][15]
Alain Daniélou states that the concept of asuras evolved with changing socio-political dynamics in ancient India. Asuras gradually assimilated the demons, spirits, and ghosts worshipped by the enemies of Vedic people, and this created the myths of the malevolent asuras and the rakshasa. The allusions to the disastrous wars between the asuras and the suras, found in the Puranas and the epics, may be the conflict faced by people and migrants into ancient India.[19]
The group pursue Cell, fighting through several Cell Juniors empowered with dark energy. They are stopped by Putine, who has also been transformed into a Demon Goddess. As Putine fights the Time Patrol, she gathers energy from the battle which she sends to Xeno Cell, triggering a Dark Evolution that evolves him into Cell X. Despite Cell X's transformation giving him near-limitless Ki, the Time Patrol are able to destroy him, and the Dark Empire flee with his Dark Dragon Ball. Before the Time Patrol leave the timespace, Xeno Trunks wonders who the figure empowering the demons is.
The Time Patrol, now aware of the Dark Dragon Balls' significance, arrive in The Scorching Hell where Towa is after another Dark Dragon Ball. The Time Patrol fight their way through the demonic forces, also encountering clones created by Xeno Janemba. Along the way they run into Super Pikkon, who agrees to help them. They reach Towa, who orders the Demon God Shroom to attack them. The Time Patrol hold their own against the Dark Empire's Grim Reaper, and follow him as he retreats deeper into Hell.
The Time Patrol return to the Demon Realm, and start fighting their way past the assembled Dark Empire forces. Among the demons who attempt to stop them is Towa, who has been released from Mira's body by Mechikabura. Partway up Mechikabura's Tower, their path is blocked by the Dark-Masked King, who rallies Xeno Paragus and a group of soldiers to hold off the Time Patrol. Xeno Bardock enters the fray, and tells the Time Patrol to continue climbing the tower while he takes on the Dark-Masked King. Having immediately recognized him as King Vegeta, Bardock mocks him for his sycophantic reverence for Mechikabura, while King Vegeta disregards him as low-class filth. During their battle, King Vegeta loses his cloak and mask during the battle, and manages to overpower Bardock. With no other option, Bardock pulls out his broken mask and puts it on, amping himself with its power as he transforms into a Super Saiyan 3. Despite the great increase in power however, King Vegeta is still able to overpower Bardock. As he prepares to finish off the low-class Saiyan, he is attacked from behind by Xeno Paragus, who manages to take out King Vegeta at the cost of his own life.

When it was discovered that Tomoe Inui could actually communicate with the demons and monsters of that area, Kazuya began to suspect that the human kingdoms may have unknowingly started the war against the Demon Lord. Furthermore, after hearing that the soldiers of the Gran Chaos Empire were able to eat monster meat and that demons cooked and ate monsters Kazuya theorized that demons and monsters have a similar relationship to humans and animals.
At present, no one had ever seen the Demon Lord and some question his existence. By the time of Julius Amidonia's exile to the Union of Eastern Nations, there has been an increase in monster attacks along the border with the Demon Lord's Domain. The Demon Lord's Domain was invaded by a joint effort of the White Tiger Kingdom headed by Fuuga and the Oceanic Alliance headed by Souma which includes Fredonia, the Euphoria Kingdom (remnant of the Gran Chaos Empire), the Turgis Republic, and the Dragon Archipelago. These Seadians were the races of the nothern continent that fled south due to monsters. They cannot close the pathway due to the fact that a manager (one of the humans who originally came to the world) was not present. Souma was able to register himself as one with the watcher of the Seafoam Continent, Mao. Mao has a similar role to Tiamat however she has no real body.
