[German]Microsoft has released the update KB4524752 for Windows 7 Professional on October 17, 2019. This is responsible for displaying the message that support for Windows 7 SP1 Professional expires on January 14, 2020.

As of January 14, 2020, support for Windows 7 SP1 will end and the operating system will no longer receive security updates. The only exceptions are systems where support is still purchased through the Extended Security Update (ESU) program. However, this is well known. It is also known that systems with Windows 7 Home Premium have been reporting this end of support since April 2019 (see my blog post Windows 7 shows End of Support notification as well as in other blog posts on the subject).

What is new is that Microsoft now wants to display this notification for systems with Windows 7 Professional. I had mentioned that within the blog post Windows 7 Pro users receiving notification about support end. The post was based on an articles from Mary Foley, who noticed that Redmond had added the following addition to this Microsoft post.

But at the time writing the blog post, no details are known. It was not clear if, when the notification will be displayed and and which update is resposnsoble to activate the screen. For Windows 7 Home Edition the update KB4493132 is responsible for the notification.

Now first users have received the notification about the end of support of Windows 7 Professional (Woody Leonhard has reported e.g. on askwoody.com). Blog reader EP left me this comment (thanks for that), pointing to at a thread at askwoody.com. Woody Leonhard has posted also an article showing the notification windows for Windows 7 Professional.

The content of the window differs slightly from the version for Windows 7 Home Edition. But in the lower left corner of the window there is an option to hide future notifications. However, the update KB4524752 (Windows 7 SP1 support notification for Windows 7 Professional) released on 17 October 2019 is responsible for the display.

The update is automatically installed by Windows Update on machines with Windows 7 Professional SP1, if the automatic update installation is allowed there. No restart is required after the update installation. If you do not allow an automatic update installation and hide the update, you will not see this notification.

In companies with managed environments, the machine should not receive any notifications. Microsoft writes about this: After installation, this update performs additional checks and does not display notifications for domain-bound devices, kiosk mode devices, or devices that have previously disabled free upgrade notifications about registry settings.

[German]Microsoft has announced, that Users of Windows 7 SP1 from January 15, 2020 will receive a warning, which will be displayed on the entire screen. It notifies a user of the end of life of Windows 7 SP1. Here is some more information about this topic and which update or which program is responsible for it.

At the same time, about 27% of desktop systems are still running Windows 7, if you can believe various statistics services. Microsoft has therefore already started to announce the end of support for 2020 to users since April 2019. I had reported in the blog posts Windows 7 shows End of Support notification and Windows 7 Pro: Update KB4524752 display EOL notification.

Starting January 15, 2020, Windows 7 will display a full-screen end of support notification in Starter, Home Basic, Home Premium, Professional (without ESU license) and Ultimate. This must then be closed by the user.

is executed via two tasks called EOSNotify and EOSNotify2. After installing the rollup update KB4530734 of December 10, 2019, these tasks should be found in the task planner under Microsoft -> Windows -> Setup. Bleeping Computer has described the ability to suppress notification here. For the current user navigate via Registry Editor to the key:

Now you have the updates ready, they can be integrated into the media. The developer of nLite and vLite has another tool called NTLite that does a similar thing but works on windows 7, 8.1 and 10. NTLite has a shareware version so not all options are available in the free version, but the needed integration functions can be used.

Hi, i saw other website integrate all updated windows 7 with the esd compression, so after integrated the iso only around 3gb, but i wonder how they do, only know it using dism tools.i try myself using nlite at the last step choosing esd compression, but the iso created cannot use for install windows 7, it comes out the error image file install.wim does not exist.

I have followed the instructions given and when trying to run the install it gets to the second part of the process expanding windows files at 1 percent and fails to install stating that the install could not be completed as it is missing important installation files with error code 0x80070083. I am attempting to add all updates including the optional software included in the updates. is there something I am missing

I have never heard of this site until now, until I needed an updated version of windows 7 too clean install my pc and from the bottom of my heart thank you this helped truck loads and I will be coming back to this site.

Hi. Thanks for this useful tutorials, i did follow every step. After installation my newly fresh Windows 7 x64, my windows update shows up only 100+ files need to download and i noticed that 20 files that i already slipstreamed is still on the list. Do i need to download those or ignore it. thanks !

Before you connect to Windows Update you might like to try and run an offline method such as WSUS Offline Update. The issue you are having is becoming more and more common recently but there could be a few missing updates that might help cure the problem, and WSUS will install them for you. Have a read here: -windows-update/

use wsusoffline they are pretty up to date. the folder path to add to Ntlite would by yourdrive:\wsusoffline\client\w61-x64\glb. Ntlite will report the hotfixes that are not compatible after you add them. You can remove the ones that are in conflict, etc. There is a similar guide (but manual) here sysadminlab.net/mobile/creating-a-fully-patch-install-wim-for-windows-78-without-mdt-but-using-wsus-offline-updater 2ff7e9595c
